Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which rose 3.47% or 0.61 points to trade at 18.21 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 3.19% or 1.37 points to end at 44.31 and PDG Realty SA (SA:PDGR3) was up 2.70% or 0.010 points to 0.380 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which lost 5.23% or 0.34 points to trade at 6.16 in late trade. Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3) declined 5.12% or 0.71 points to end at 13.17 and CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) shed 4.13% or 0.67 points to 15.56.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 184 to 125 and 8 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.19% to 31.62.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.37% or 4.30 to $1170.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.59% or 0.92 to hit $58.92 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.68% or 0.93 to trade at $134.32 .
USD/BRL was up 0.30% to 3.1511, while EUR/BRL fell 0.83% to 3.5018.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.95% at 96.39.
