Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which rose 7.55% or 0.40 points to trade at 5.70 at the close. PDG Realty SA (SA:PDGR3) added 6.45% or 0.020 points to end at 0.330 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was up 3.21% or 0.40 points to 12.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4), which lost 3.68% or 0.50 points to trade at 13.10 in late trade. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) declined 3.66% or 0.61 points to end at 16.04 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) shed 3.02% or 0.60 points to 19.29.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 154 to 146 and 10 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.50% to 28.15 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.54% or 6.40 to $1177.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.37% or 0.82 to hit $61.34 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 2.10% or 2.77 to trade at $129.25 .
USD/BRL was down 0.06% to 3.0783, while EUR/BRL fell 1.55% to 3.4390.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.15% at 95.61.
