Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Financials, Consumption and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 2.16% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4), which rose 6.42% or 0.47 points to trade at 7.79 at the close. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) added 6.09% or 0.52 points to end at 9.06 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 5.33% or 0.98 points to 19.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which lost 3.94% or 0.87 points to trade at 21.23 in late trade. Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) declined 3.27% or 0.51 points to end at 15.10 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) shed 3.23% or 0.36 points to 10.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 238 to 96 and 14 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.00% to 36.26.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.39% or 5.25 to $1367.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.22% or 0.10 to hit $45.24 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 1.53% or 2.17 to trade at $144.02 .
USD/BRL was down 1.99% to 3.3002, while EUR/BRL fell 2.07% to 3.6482.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 96.30.
