Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 1.13% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Teapo (TW:2375), which rose 9.76% or 1.20 points to trade at 13.50 at the close. Chroma (TW:2360) added 5.45% or 3.70 points to end at 71.60 and Favite (TW:3535) was up 5.02% or 0.60 points to 12.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Macronix (TW:2337), which lost 10.00% or 0.40 points to trade at 3.60 in late trade. Chung Hung Ste (TW:2014) declined 9.92% or 0.66 points to end at 5.99 and Bizlink (TW:3665) shed 7.54% or 15.00 points to 184.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 611 to 170 and 71 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.37% or 0.17 to $46.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.36% or 0.17 to hit $47.94 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.55% or 7.00 to trade at $1273.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.05% to 32.260, while TWD/CNY rose 0.30% to 0.2014.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 93.43.
