Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Electricity and Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which rose 10.00% or 1.25 points to trade at 13.75 at the close. Asrock (TW:3515) added 9.98% or 4.05 points to end at 44.65 and Mospec (TW:2434) was up 9.91% or 0.55 points to 6.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AP Memory Technology Corp (TW:6531), which lost 9.98% or 8.90 points to trade at 80.30 in late trade. Pihsiang (TW:1729) declined 9.94% or 4.40 points to end at 39.85 and Umec (TW:2413) shed 5.74% or 0.70 points to 11.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 590 to 195 and 89 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.71% or 0.78 to $44.74 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.45% or 0.70 to hit $47.68 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.42% or 5.15 to trade at $1233.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.22% to 30.198, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2297.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 98.63.
