Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Inventec Corp (TW:2356), which rose 10.00% or 1.45 points to trade at 15.95 at the close. Waffer Tech (TW:6235) added 9.97% or 0.71 points to end at 7.83 and Phytohealth (TW:4108) was up 9.94% or 1.60 points to 17.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chiu Ting Mach (TW:1539), which lost 10.00% or 3.75 points to trade at 33.75 in late trade. Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) declined 8.55% or 1.00 points to end at 10.70 and Aoc (TW:6289) shed 7.77% or 0.08 points to 0.95.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 432 to 407 and 2 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.68% or 0.32 to $45.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.73% or 0.36 to hit $49.25 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.08% or 0.90 to trade at $1122.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.35% to 32.715, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.1955.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 96.29.
