Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Machinery and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.98%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Enlight Corp (TW:2438), which rose 9.95% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.60 at the close. Kao Hsing Chan (TW:2008) added 9.85% or 1.00 points to end at 11.15 and Hannstar Board (TW:5469) was up 9.69% or 1.85 points to 20.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transasia (TW:6702), which lost 9.64% or 0.24 points to trade at 2.25 in late trade. Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) declined 6.87% or 1.35 points to end at 18.30 and Cx Tech (TW:2415) shed 5.94% or 1.45 points to 22.95.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 476 to 282 and 116 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.85% or 0.44 to $51.35 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.69% or 0.38 to hit $54.56 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.33% or 3.85 to trade at $1172.65 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.08% to 31.962, while TWD/CNY fell 8.26% to 0.2154.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 100.29.
