Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Hotels and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were J Touch (TW:3584), which rose 10.00% or 1.10 points to trade at 12.10 at the close. Jean (TW:2442) added 9.97% or 0.77 points to end at 8.49 and Sinphar (TW:1734) was up 9.95% or 2.75 points to 30.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lily Textile (TW:1443), which lost 6.35% or 0.37 points to trade at 5.46 in late trade. Lan Fa Textile (TW:1459) declined 4.59% or 0.65 points to end at 13.50 and Tidehold Devl (TW:9902) shed 4.55% or 0.60 points to 12.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 605 to 238 and 1 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.18% or 0.10 to $58.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $62.05 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.26% or 3.10 to trade at $1175.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.14% to 30.840, while TWD/CNY fell 0.64% to 0.2016.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 95.32.
