Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Rubber, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Electronic Products Distribution sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Microtek Intl (TW:2305), which rose 10.00% or 0.77 points to trade at 8.47 at the close. Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) added 7.71% or 0.73 points to end at 10.20 and Apt (TW:3682) was up 7.61% or 0.75 points to 10.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Candmark (TW:5259), which lost 9.86% or 0.21 points to trade at 1.92 in late trade. China Tv (TW:9928) declined 9.72% or 0.70 points to end at 6.50 and Aoc (TW:6289) shed 9.01% or 0.10 points to 1.01.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 415 to 326 and 104 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.25% or 0.12 to $48.43 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.18% or 0.09 to hit $49.37 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.14% or 1.85 to trade at $1275.05 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.08% to 32.646, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.1996.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 94.78.
