Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Auto, Textile and Hotels sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Calin (TW:4976), which rose 9.97% or 3.60 points to trade at 39.70 at the close. Tung Kai Tech (TW:3018) added 9.94% or 3.95 points to end at 43.70 and King Core (TW:6155) was up 9.86% or 2.10 points to 23.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472), which lost 8.67% or 1.30 points to trade at 13.70 in late trade. Sintronic Tech (TW:3536) declined 5.13% or 1.25 points to end at 23.10 and Tpk Holding (TW:3673) shed 4.85% or 5.50 points to 108.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 374 to 374 and 127 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.02% or 0.50 to $49.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.93% or 0.48 to hit $52.30 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.09% or 1.10 to trade at $1267.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.19% to 30.219, while TWD/CNY rose 0.04% to 0.2282.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 99.00.
