Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Biotech & Medical Care and Computers & Peripherals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jih Lin (TW:5285), which rose 9.93% or 3.00 points to trade at 33.20 at the close. Epileds Tech (TW:4956) added 9.86% or 1.75 points to end at 19.50 and Getac Tech (TW:3005) was up 8.00% or 3.00 points to 40.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Swancor Holding Co Ltd (TW:3708), which lost 9.93% or 7.40 points to trade at 67.10 in late trade. Ygg (TW:1589) declined 9.18% or 14.00 points to end at 138.50 and Anji Technology Co Ltd (TW:6477) shed 5.99% or 1.15 points to 18.05.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 415 to 331 and 121 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.52% or 0.26 to $50.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.42% or 0.22 to hit $51.73 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.06% or 0.80 to trade at $1256.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.19% to 31.770, while TWD/CNY rose 0.19% to 0.2118.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 98.00.
