Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Goods and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX), which rose 2.78% or 0.37 points to trade at 13.68 at the close. Abertis Infr (MC:ABE) added 1.76% or 0.235 points to end at 13.550 and Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) was up 1.51% or 0.275 points to 18.450 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 4.84% or 0.361 points to trade at 7.096 in late trade. Mapfre (MC:MAP) declined 3.30% or 0.101 points to end at 2.961 and Bankia (MC:BKIA) shed 2.59% or 0.026 points to 0.979.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 86 to 80 and 17 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.38% or 4.35 to $1141.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.45% or 0.24 to hit $53.19 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.04 to trade at $55.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0441, while EUR/GBP rose 0.54% to 0.8411.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 102.77.
