Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Financial Services & Real Estate and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which rose 4.70% or 0.515 points to trade at 11.465 at the close. Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) added 2.20% or 0.156 points to end at 7.252 and Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) was up 2.12% or 0.785 points to 37.845 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Acerinox (MC:ACX), which lost 0.96% or 0.125 points to trade at 12.935 in late trade. Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA) declined 0.60% or 0.80 points to end at 131.55 and Bankinter (MC:BKT) shed 0.48% or 0.036 points to 7.459.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 98 to 70 and 18 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.98% or 11.15 to $1131.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.53% or 0.28 to hit $53.34 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.76% or 0.42 to trade at $55.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.0389, while EUR/GBP rose 0.30% to 0.8414.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 103.31.
