Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Consumer Services and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Inditex (MADRID:ITX), which rose 2.23% or 0.672 points to trade at 30.832 at the close. Banco Popular (MADRID:POP) added 1.83% or 0.082 points to end at 4.572 and Mediaset ESP (MADRID:TL5) was up 1.66% or 0.190 points to 11.645 in late trade.
Biggest losers included FCC (MADRID:FCC), which lost 3.17% or 0.302 points to trade at 9.214 in late trade. Gamesa (MADRID:GAM) declined 1.39% or 0.195 points to end at 13.815 and Obrascon Huarte Lain (MADRID:OHL) shed 1.29% or 0.220 points to 16.880.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 106 to 104 on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.15% or 1.80 to $1191.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.23% or 0.74 to hit $59.56 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.58% or 1.03 to trade at $64.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.71% to 1.0912, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.7185.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.70% at 97.61.
