Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Power and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 1.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Pharmstandard JSC (MCX:PHST), which rose 6.00% or 60.0 points to trade at 1060.0 at the close. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) added 4.00% or 2.480 points to end at 64.500 and Bashneft ANK ap (pref) (MCX:BANE_p) was up 2.61% or 36.0 points to 1415.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR), which lost 4.92% or 0.1590 points to trade at 3.0750 in late trade. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) declined 4.89% or 3.50 points to end at 67.98 and Magnit (MCX:MGNT) shed 4.06% or 499.0 points to 11801.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 122 to 66 and 5 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 3.58% to 38.730.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.58% or 6.90 to $1192.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 3.18% or 1.65 to hit $53.56 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.11% or 1.25 to trade at $60.28 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 2.66% to 50.714, while EUR/RUB fell 1.73% to 54.040.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.76% at 98.98.
