Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Manufacturing, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 1.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which rose 3.04% or 0.0020 points to trade at 0.0664 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) added 2.93% or 0.540 points to end at 18.950 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) was up 2.35% or 14.30 points to 623.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PIK (MCX:PIKK), which lost 6.44% or 10.40 points to trade at 151.20 in late trade. Sollers (MCX:SVAV) declined 6.32% or 24.0 points to end at 356.0 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) shed 4.85% or 3.400 points to 66.700.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 125 to 71 and 9 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 2.48% to 33.030.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.83% or 9.10 to $1085.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.87% or 0.42 to hit $48.03 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.40% or 0.78 to trade at $54.49 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.03% to 58.469, while EUR/RUB rose 1.28% to 64.188.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 97.38.
