Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Mining, Power and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 1.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were NMTP (MCX:NMTP), which rose 6.51% or 0.4250 points to trade at 6.9500 at the close. Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) added 0.90% or 6 points to end at 670 and Unipro (MCX:UPRO) was up 0.82% or 0.0210 points to 2.5780 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG), which lost 4.73% or 0.1050 points to trade at 2.1170 in late trade. MMK (MCX:MAGN) declined 4.37% or 1.590 points to end at 34.760 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) shed 4.13% or 33.00 points to 767.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 152 to 58 and 10 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.68% to 24.200.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.07% or 0.90 to $1291.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.59% or 0.31 to hit $52.34 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.92% or 0.51 to trade at $54.85 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.45% to 56.1783, while EUR/RUB rose 0.91% to 60.135.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 99.69.
