Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Manufacturing, Telecoms and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were VTB (MCX:VTBR), which rose 2.52% or 0.0020 points to trade at 0.0815 at the close. Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) added 1.99% or 200.0 points to end at 10260.0 and PIK (MCX:PIKK) was up 1.97% or 4.00 points to 206.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY), which lost 4.00% or 16.00 points to trade at 384.50 in late trade. MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) declined 2.79% or 265.0 points to end at 9250.0 and MMK (MCX:MAGN) shed 2.72% or 0.408 points to 14.582.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 95 to 91 and 7 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.45% to 33.240.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.51% or 18.20 to $1186.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.11% or 1.86 to hit $57.86 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.21% or 2.10 to trade at $63.41 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.80% to 50.898, while EUR/RUB rose 0.09% to 55.402.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.86% at 97.29.
