Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR), which rose 3.90% or 0.0299 points to trade at 0.7958 at the close. Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) added 1.88% or 15.00 points to end at 815.00 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was up 1.82% or 2.15 points to 120.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC), which lost 5.19% or 4.100 points to trade at 74.900 in late trade. Akron (MCX:AKRN) declined 2.84% or 95.0 points to end at 3250.0 and Uralkaliy (MCX:URKA) shed 2.58% or 4.45 points to 168.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 119 to 112 and 15 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.46% to 25.750.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.58% or 7.35 to $1270.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.00% or 1.51 to hit $51.80 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.48% or 1.28 to trade at $52.96 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.89% to 62.2564, while EUR/RUB fell 0.59% to 68.254.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 97.92.
