Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which rose 6.26% or 4.18 points to trade at 71.00 at the close. Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) added 3.79% or 3.22 points to end at 88.23 and AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) was up 3.39% or 4420 points to 134890 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which lost 3.40% or 0.0405 points to trade at 1.1520 in late trade. DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) declined 2.67% or 10.00 points to end at 365.00 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) shed 1.71% or 17.00 points to 976.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 110 to 73 and 12 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.84% to 42.220 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.65% or 7.60 to $1167.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.43% or 0.25 to hit $57.75 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.56% or 0.34 to trade at $61.69 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.47% to 56.634, while EUR/RUB fell 0.83% to 62.929.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.00% at 96.44.
