Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which rose 4.57% or 0.870 points to trade at 19.900 at the close. Magnit (MCX:MGNT) added 4.10% or 460.0 points to end at 11680.0 and PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR) was up 3.85% or 80.0 points to 2159.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MVideo (MCX:MVID), which lost 11.82% or 25.60 points to trade at 191.00 in late trade. Rosneft (MCX:ROSN) declined 3.63% or 8.65 points to end at 229.90 and FSK EES (MCX:FEES) shed 1.98% or 0.0013 points to 0.0630.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 110 to 79 and 10 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.06% to 32.510.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.06% or 0.70 to $1172.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.23% or 0.14 to hit $59.56 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $63.22 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.65% to 55.054, while EUR/RUB rose 0.05% to 61.379.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.39% at 95.74.
