Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON), which rose 5.96% or 42.00 points to trade at 747.00 at the close. Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) added 3.65% or 0.0875 points to end at 2.4875 and Niznekamskneftekhim ao (MCX:NKNC) was up 3.38% or 1.700 points to 52.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which lost 7.19% or 1.550 points to trade at 20.000 in late trade. DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) declined 5.45% or 16.70 points to end at 290.00 and United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) shed 4.33% or 0.850 points to 18.800.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 121 to 99 and 19 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.66% to 33.070.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.46% or 5.95 to $1292.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.83% or 1.31 to hit $47.52 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 3.18% or 1.50 to trade at $48.69 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.40% to 64.8472, while EUR/RUB fell 0.99% to 73.071.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.43% at 94.36.
