Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were RDR United Company RUSAL PLC (MCX:RUALR), which rose 7.28% or 19.00 points to trade at 280.00 at the close. Akron (MCX:AKRN) added 6.34% or 155.0 points to end at 2600.0 and MMK (MCX:MAGN) was up 4.54% or 0.767 points to 17.645 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p), which lost 4.57% or 7.40 points to trade at 154.60 in late trade. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) declined 3.62% or 2.660 points to end at 70.790 and Sollers (MCX:SVAV) shed 3.41% or 14.0 points to 396.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 98 to 95 and 12 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.44% to 35.490.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.10% or 1.20 to $1154.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.53% or 0.80 to hit $53.00 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.93% or 0.54 to trade at $58.69 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.24% to 56.419, while EUR/RUB fell 0.24% to 62.120.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 96.84.
