Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 1.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco BPI (LISBON:BBPI), which rose 0.73% or 0.0105 points to trade at 1.4535 at the close. J. Martins SGPS (LISBON:JMT) added 0.43% or 0.0525 points to end at 12.2025 and Portugal Telecom (LISBON:PTC) was up 0.26% or 0.0015 points to 0.5775 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altri SGPS (LISBON:ALSS), which lost 4.22% or 0.1705 points to trade at 3.8665 in late trade. Semapa (LISBON:SEM) declined 2.85% or 0.3800 points to end at 12.9350 and Portucel (LISBON:PTI) shed 2.74% or 0.1245 points to 4.4155.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 45 to 22 and 4 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for June delivery was up 2.73% or 1.76 to $66.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.58% or 2.04 to hit $59.10 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.40% or 4.80 to trade at $1209.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 1.62% to 1.1159, while EUR/GBP rose 0.80% to 0.7215.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.28% at 94.96.
