Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 1.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Portucel (LS:PTI), which rose 6.07% or 0.2060 points to trade at 3.6000 at the close. Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) added 4.87% or 0.1870 points to end at 4.0230 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) was up 4.35% or 0.0024 points to 0.0576 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP), which lost 0.29% or 0.0280 points to trade at 9.5790 in late trade. Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) declined 0.19% or 0.0020 points to end at 1.0770 and Sonae (LS:YSO) gained 0.45% or 0.0050 points to 1.1160.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 40 to 13 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for December delivery was down 0.33% or 0.17 to $49.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.29% or 0.60 to hit $46.04 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.70% or 8.30 to trade at $1188.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.61% to 1.1403, while EUR/GBP fell 0.75% to 0.7358.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.32% at 94.28.
