Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.92%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LISBON:BCP), which rose 4.22% or 0.0036 points to trade at 0.0890 at the close. Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF) added 2.86% or 0.0002 points to end at 0.0072 and Semapa (LISBON:SEM) was up 2.70% or 0.3575 points to 13.5925 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Teixeira Duarte (LISBON:TDSA), which lost 1.28% or 0.0080 points to trade at 0.6160 in late trade. J. Martins SGPS (LISBON:JMT) declined 0.88% or 0.1100 points to end at 12.3900 and REN (LISBON:RENE) shed 0.46% or 0.0125 points to 2.6855.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 50 to 16 and 5 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for July delivery was down 1.69% or 1.07 to $62.65 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.38% or 0.22 to hit $57.81 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.11% or 1.30 to trade at $1186.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.0884, while EUR/GBP rose 0.47% to 0.7101.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 97.51.
