Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Altri SGPS (LISBON:ALSS), which rose 5.66% or 0.2205 points to trade at 4.1185 at the close. Semapa (LISBON:SEM) added 4.12% or 0.5450 points to end at 13.7850 and Portucel (LISBON:PTI) was up 2.02% or 0.0800 points to 4.0460 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Portugal Telecom (LISBON:PTC), which lost 3.19% or 0.0165 points to trade at 0.5005 in late trade. Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF) declined 1.30% or 0.0001 points to end at 0.0076 and Sonae (LISBON:YSO) shed 0.98% or 0.0125 points to 1.2615.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 45 to 28 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for July delivery was down 3.16% or 2.10 to $64.17 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.35% or 2.02 to hit $58.22 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 1.65% or 20.20 to trade at $1207.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 1.62% to 1.1132, while EUR/GBP fell 0.62% to 0.7183.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.31% at 95.46.
