Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 12.66% or 0.0200 points to trade at 0.1780 at the close. Sonae (LS:YSO) added 3.79% or 0.0250 points to end at 0.6840 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) was up 1.57% or 0.0003 points to 0.0194 in late trade.
Biggest losers included J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT), which lost 1.34% or 0.1900 points to trade at 14.0250 in late trade. Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP) declined 0.71% or 0.0900 points to end at 12.6250 and EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR) shed 0.57% or 0.0400 points to 6.9350.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 16 to 13 and 6 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was up 1.33% or 0.62 to $47.28 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.95% or 0.43 to hit $45.88 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.07% or 14.25 to trade at $1318.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.17% to 1.1002, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.8352.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 97.22.
