Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Financials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were EDP (LS:EDP), which rose 1.60% or 0.0440 points to trade at 2.7870 at the close. EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR) added 1.36% or 0.0890 points to end at 6.6460 and Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) was up 0.92% or 0.0100 points to 1.1000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which lost 3.01% or 0.0040 points to trade at 0.1290 in late trade. The Navigator Company SA (LS:NVGR) declined 2.84% or 0.0760 points to end at 2.6000 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) shed 2.82% or 0.0460 points to 1.5840.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 31 to 14 and 10 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for August delivery was down 1.18% or 0.59 to $49.24 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.56% or 0.27 to hit $48.22 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.03% or 0.45 to trade at $1287.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.27% to 1.1237, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.7930.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 94.85.
