Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Utilities, Financial Services and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Industrials and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.23%, while the MDAX index declined 0.74%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 9.35% or 1.145 points to trade at 13.395 at the close. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 4.95% or 0.451 points to end at 9.562 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 1.83% or 1.950 points to 108.550 in late trade.
Biggest losers included K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn), which lost 2.49% or 0.625 points to trade at 24.520 in late trade. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) declined 2.43% or 1.610 points to end at 64.690 and Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) shed 1.79% or 0.845 points to 46.250.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which rose 2.36% to 58.910, Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) which was up 1.80% to settle at 28.84 and Duerr AG O.N. (DE:DUEG) which gained 1.65% to close at 73.810.
The worst performers were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which was down 4.08% to 74.940 in late trade, Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO O.N. (DE:FPEG_p) which lost 2.67% to settle at 40.995 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which was down 2.55% to 32.895 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which rose 3.78% to 187.850, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was up 3.29% to settle at 37.695 and Drillisch AG O.N. (DE:DRIG) which gained 2.33% to close at 46.255.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was down 4.73% to 5.725 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which lost 4.68% to settle at 37.890 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 3.81% to 58.120 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 362 to 319 and 33 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.58% to 20.46 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.58% or 6.70 to $1162.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.06% or 1.52 to hit $48.11 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.84% or 1.50 to trade at $51.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.1368, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.7408.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 94.82.
