Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Insurance and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Financial Services, Food & Beverages and Software sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.20%, while the MDAX index lost 0.58%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Allianz SE VNA O.N. (XETRA:ALVG), which rose 2.42% or 3.650 points to trade at 154.200 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) added 2.05% or 0.220 points to end at 10.975 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) was up 1.37% or 0.170 points to 12.560 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p), which lost 3.37% or 7.700 points to trade at 220.800 in late trade. Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG) declined 2.25% or 2.400 points to end at 104.100 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) shed 0.77% or 0.570 points to 73.310.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which rose 5.23% to 69.680, DMG Mori Seiki AG (XETRA:GILG) which was up 3.16% to settle at 32.350 and Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which gained 2.41% to close at 8.610.
The worst performers were Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which was down 4.98% to 21.830 in late trade, Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which lost 4.25% to settle at 109.200 and Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which was down 3.57% to 45.394 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which rose 8.25% to 20.930, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was up 5.11% to settle at 6.464 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which gained 3.94% to close at 114.850.
The worst performers were Wirecard AG (XETRA:WDIG) which was down 6.41% to 35.700 in late trade, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which lost 6.05% to settle at 4.647 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which was down 2.40% to 84.980 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 461 to 286 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 24.18 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.30% or 3.60 to $1189.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.32% or 0.80 to hit $61.20 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.96% or 0.65 to trade at $68.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.32% to 1.1334, while EUR/GBP rose 1.00% to 0.7440.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.06% at 94.26.
