Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Financial Services and Retail sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Basic Resources, Telecoms and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.98%, while the MDAX index added 0.12%, and the TecDAX index added 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn), which rose 0.40% or 0.045 points to trade at 11.390 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) added 0.26% or 0.200 points to end at 76.200 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DPWGn) was up 0.02% or 0.005 points to 28.145 in late trade.
Biggest losers included K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which lost 2.77% or 0.820 points to trade at 28.730 in late trade. Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG) declined 2.49% or 2.600 points to end at 102.000 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) shed 2.33% or 5.150 points to 215.700.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which rose 3.70% to 14.705, Tag Immobilien AG (XETRA:TEGG) which was up 2.57% to settle at 12.155 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which gained 1.73% to close at 108.800.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was down 3.43% to 34.365 in late trade, Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which lost 1.50% to settle at 91.110 and Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which was down 1.47% to 29.530 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which rose 9.12% to 16.565, Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was up 3.46% to settle at 5.831 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which gained 1.98% to close at 98.880.
The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was down 2.43% to 110.250 in late trade, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which lost 2.12% to settle at 4.530 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (XETRA:O2Dn) which was down 1.77% to 5.100 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 381 to 343 and 44 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.50% to 21.67.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.17% or 2.10 to $1223.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.73% or 0.44 to hit $59.44 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.20% or 0.14 to trade at $66.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1432, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.7248.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 93.36.
