Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Financial Services and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Food & Beverages and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.38%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.11%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn), which rose 2.11% or 0.202 points to trade at 9.754 at the close. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG) added 0.73% or 0.460 points to end at 63.050 and Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG) was up 0.29% or 0.250 points to 85.270 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which lost 4.42% or 0.620 points to trade at 13.395 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) declined 1.75% or 0.180 points to end at 10.105 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) shed 1.59% or 0.175 points to 10.855.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gerresheimer AG (XETRA:GXId) which rose 4.37% to 64.540, Deutsche Euroshop AG O.N. (XETRA:DEQGn) which was up 2.73% to settle at 39.675 and Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which gained 2.43% to close at 38.000.
The worst performers were Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which was down 2.10% to 76.920 in late trade, Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which lost 1.96% to settle at 27.775 and Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which was down 1.61% to 21.350 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which rose 9.18% to 51.500, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which was up 5.59% to settle at 196.500 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which gained 3.97% to close at 84.820.
The worst performers were QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was down 1.88% to 1.720 in late trade, BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which lost 1.45% to settle at 258.700 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 1.18% to 8.401 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 332 to 330 and 39 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 27.93 a new 3-year high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.07% or 0.80 to $1133.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 4.36% or 1.97 to hit $47.19 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 3.95% or 1.98 to trade at $52.02 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.15% to 1.1203, while EUR/GBP rose 0.50% to 0.7298.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 96.06.
