Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Technology and Construction sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Consumer & Cyclical and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.22% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index added 0.11%, and the TecDAX index added 0.92%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG), which rose 2.49% or 2.170 points to trade at 89.460 at the close. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG) added 1.43% or 0.940 points to end at 66.480 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) was up 1.30% or 0.950 points to 74.180 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which lost 3.28% or 0.535 points to trade at 15.760 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) declined 2.49% or 0.550 points to end at 21.500 and K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) shed 1.54% or 0.570 points to 36.400.
The top performers on the MDAX were Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which rose 1.57% to 16.860, DMG Mori Seiki AG (XETRA:GILG) which was up 1.55% to settle at 33.835 and Hochtief AG (XETRA:HOTG) which gained 1.50% to close at 78.280.
The worst performers were Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was down 1.69% to 75.070 in late trade, Evonik Industries AG (XETRA:EVKn) which lost 1.56% to settle at 35.105 and Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which was down 1.33% to 22.990 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (XETRA:WDIG) which rose 8.09% to 38.885, Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which was up 2.45% to settle at 3.934 and Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which gained 1.60% to close at 9.979.
The worst performers were LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 3.48% to 8.381 in late trade, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which lost 2.91% to settle at 47.550 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was down 2.06% to 11.880 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 374 to 362 and 43 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.33% to 21.25.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.31% or 3.50 to $1114.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.80% or 0.34 to hit $42.75 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.17% or 0.09 to trade at $48.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.46% to 1.1027, while EUR/GBP fell 0.88% to 0.7046.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 97.03.
