Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction, Technology and Media sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Transportation & Logistics, Insurance and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.08% to hit a new 1-month low, while the MDAX index added 0.08%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 1.52% or 0.220 points to trade at 14.725 at the close. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) added 0.97% or 0.760 points to end at 79.310 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was up 0.83% or 0.680 points to 82.410 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which lost 2.05% or 0.225 points to trade at 10.745 in late trade. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) declined 1.45% or 1.040 points to end at 70.900 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) shed 1.44% or 0.097 points to 6.652.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which rose 2.34% to 33.055, STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which was up 2.16% to settle at 48.790 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which gained 1.86% to close at 54.25.
The worst performers were Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which was down 5.09% to 85.090 in late trade, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which lost 3.28% to settle at 75.540 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 1.84% to 50.280 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 3.31% to 32.885, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was up 3.06% to settle at 33.700 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which gained 2.82% to close at 10.950.
The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 3.63% to 62.920 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which lost 2.61% to settle at 36.245 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 2.10% to 29.630 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 433 to 422 and 27 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.36% to 20.50.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.28% or 3.65 to $1327.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.12% or 0.95 to hit $43.95 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.93% or 0.91 to trade at $46.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.40% to 1.1264, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8538.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.29% at 95.26.
