Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Basic Resources and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 4.70% to hit a new 6-month low, while the MDAX index lost 3.74%, and the TecDAX index declined 3.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p), which fell 1.56% or 1.450 points to trade at 91.630 at the close. Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) fell 1.93% or 1.450 points to end at 73.830 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) was down 1.98% or 3.200 points to 158.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which lost 9.11% or 1.325 points to trade at 13.220 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) declined 8.60% or 0.900 points to end at 9.570 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) shed 6.97% or 1.845 points to 24.625.
The top performers on the MDAX were Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which rose 0.12% to 6.763, Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which was up 0.09% to settle at 45.330 and Celesio AG Nam. O.N. (XETRA:CLSGn) which lost 0.36% to close at 24.715.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was down 7.82% to 26.220 in late trade, Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which lost 5.92% to settle at 32.920 and Gerresheimer AG (XETRA:GXId) which was down 5.77% to 57.960 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which rose 0.25% to 26.415, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (XETRA:O2Dn) which was up 0.19% to settle at 5.179 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which lost 0.20% to close at 29.700.
The worst performers were QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was down 7.32% to 1.570 in late trade, Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which lost 7.04% to settle at 155.850 and BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was down 6.94% to 237.300 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 725 to 38 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 23.58 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.05% or 0.60 to $1159.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.93% or 1.59 to hit $38.86 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 4.30% or 1.96 to trade at $43.51 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.78% to 1.1587, while EUR/GBP rose 1.42% to 0.7359.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.46% at 93.46.
