Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Telecoms and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 3.56%, while the MDAX index declined 2.67%, and the TecDAX index declined 2.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN), which fell 1.52% or 1.070 points to trade at 69.370 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) fell 1.80% or 0.440 points to end at 24.025 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) was down 1.86% or 0.220 points to 11.615 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn), which lost 5.81% or 1.675 points to trade at 27.155 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) declined 4.77% or 0.580 points to end at 11.580 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DAIGn) shed 4.39% or 3.800 points to 82.810.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which rose 0.49% to 20.400, Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which was down 0.03% to settle at 6.750 and DMG Mori Seiki AG (XETRA:GILG) which lost 0.23% to close at 32.445.
The worst performers were Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which was down 7.25% to 14.590 in late trade, Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which lost 4.28% to settle at 84.440 and Aareal Bank AG (XETRA:ARLG) which was down 4.23% to 35.215 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (XETRA:AFXG) which fell 0.47% to 22.345, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was down 0.75% to settle at 4.081 and Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which lost 1.00% to close at 49.745.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 5.95% to 20.390 in late trade, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which lost 4.93% to settle at 1.850 and Morphosys AG O.N. (XETRA:MORG) which was down 4.55% to 64.870 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 658 to 101 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 17.60% to 27.06 a new 3-year high.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.32% or 3.70 to $1176.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.91% or 1.14 to hit $58.49 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.02% or 1.27 to trade at $61.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.1188, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.7090.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 95.29.
