Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Transportation & Logistics and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 3.06%, while the MDAX index declined 1.20%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN), which rose 1.21% or 0.840 points to trade at 70.170 at the close. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG) added 1.13% or 0.720 points to end at 64.260 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) was down 1.05% or 0.125 points to 11.745 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which lost 8.06% or 0.955 points to trade at 10.890 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) declined 5.04% or 0.410 points to end at 7.719 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) shed 4.44% or 1.170 points to 25.190.
The top performers on the MDAX were LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which rose 2.73% to 70.270, Vonovia SE (XETRA:VNAn) which was up 1.60% to settle at 29.82 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which gained 1.31% to close at 24.050.
The worst performers were Aareal Bank AG (XETRA:ARLG) which was down 4.38% to 32.075 in late trade, Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which lost 4.27% to settle at 20.975 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was down 4.10% to 25.275 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which rose 2.49% to 11.935, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which was up 2.03% to settle at 29.900 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which gained 1.18% to close at 206.000.
The worst performers were Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was down 9.97% to 2.952 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which lost 2.40% to settle at 31.325 and Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which was down 2.05% to 45.325 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 529 to 157 and 36 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.57% to 24.64.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.81% or 20.20 to $1137.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.37% or 1.58 to hit $45.32 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.01% or 0.98 to trade at $48.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.55% to 1.1372, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.7298.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 94.83.
