Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Construction, Basic Resources and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 3.02% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index declined 4.58%, and the TecDAX index lost 4.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which rose 2.37% or 0.74 points to trade at 32.24 at the close. Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (DE:HNKG) added 1.10% or 1.150 points to end at 105.850 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) was down 0.08% or 0.100 points to 119.750 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which lost 8.26% or 0.905 points to trade at 10.050 in late trade. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) declined 8.08% or 14.650 points to end at 166.600 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) shed 8.03% or 5.760 points to 65.970.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which rose 1.25% to 29.470, DMG Mori Seiki AG (DE:GILG) which was down 0.43% to settle at 42.000 and Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which lost 0.98% to close at 106.300.
The worst performers were K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 12.41% to 18.525 in late trade, Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which lost 9.88% to settle at 25.025 and Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was down 9.18% to 28.58 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which fell 0.49% to 43.785, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 0.75% to settle at 14.485 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which lost 1.10% to close at 52.150.
The worst performers were GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was down 8.04% to 17.605 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which lost 6.75% to settle at 47.195 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 6.67% to 33.245 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 776 to 152 and 19 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 25.38.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.19% or 2.45 to $1324.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.73% or 1.30 to hit $46.34 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.59% or 1.27 to trade at $47.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.83% to 1.1025, while EUR/GBP rose 3.03% to 0.8372.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.96% at 96.55.
