Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Technology and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.89%, while the MDAX index declined 1.86%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG), which rose 0.20% or 0.050 points to trade at 24.980 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) added 0.09% or 0.020 points to end at 23.090 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) was down 0.25% or 0.190 points to 74.950 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG), which lost 5.73% or 0.740 points to trade at 12.175 in late trade. Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG) declined 4.43% or 4.700 points to end at 101.400 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) shed 3.84% or 3.100 points to 77.590.
The top performers on the MDAX were DMG Mori Seiki AG (XETRA:GILG) which rose 1.27% to 32.300, Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was up 1.25% to settle at 31.120 and Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which gained 0.51% to close at 59.650.
The worst performers were Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which was down 4.25% to 62.869 in late trade, Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which lost 3.82% to settle at 95.770 and Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (XETRA:SY1G) which was down 3.50% to 55.980 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Software AG O.N. (XETRA:SOWG) which rose 0.91% to 26.500, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was up 0.22% to settle at 1.834 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which gained 0.09% to close at 112.550.
The worst performers were BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was down 6.56% to 269.100 in late trade, Qiagen NV (XETRA:QGEN) which lost 3.28% to settle at 22.090 and Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was down 3.17% to 37.905 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 586 to 157 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 20.66.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.82% or 9.90 to $1213.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $57.00 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.18% or 0.12 to trade at $64.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.79% to 1.0978, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.7160.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.72% at 96.19.
