Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Utilities and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.57%, while the MDAX index declined 0.52%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGn), which rose 3.39% or 1.015 points to trade at 30.940 at the close. Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) added 1.10% or 0.850 points to end at 77.880 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) was up 0.50% or 0.950 points to 191.050 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn), which lost 5.23% or 0.830 points to trade at 15.055 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) declined 3.81% or 0.387 points to end at 9.763 and BASF SE NA O.N. (XETRA:BASFN) shed 2.72% or 1.860 points to 66.460.
The top performers on the MDAX were Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which rose 3.27% to 16.885, Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) which was up 2.85% to settle at 56.340 and DMG Mori Seiki AG (XETRA:GILG) which gained 2.09% to close at 35.000.
The worst performers were Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which was down 4.00% to 33.695 in late trade, Axel Springer SE (XETRA:SPRGn) which lost 3.85% to settle at 48.000 and LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which was down 3.27% to 71.400 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which rose 1.50% to 104.750, Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which was up 1.33% to settle at 24.755 and Wirecard AG (XETRA:WDIG) which gained 0.94% to close at 43.105.
The worst performers were PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was down 7.71% to 11.075 in late trade, STRATEC Biomedical AG (XETRA:SBSG) which lost 5.17% to settle at 49.300 and Freenet AG NA (XETRA:FNTGn) which was down 3.69% to 28.445 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 376 to 298 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.87% to 28.29.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.05% or 0.60 to $1114.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.31% or 0.14 to hit $44.95 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.06% or 0.52 to trade at $47.85 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.1202, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.7392.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 96.16.
