Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Financial Services and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.94%, while the MDAX index fell 0.70%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn), which rose 1.50% or 0.410 points to trade at 27.660 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) added 0.79% or 0.095 points to end at 12.130 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) was up 0.59% or 0.295 points to 50.120 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG), which lost 2.57% or 2.520 points to trade at 95.600 in late trade. Daimler AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DAIGn) declined 2.43% or 2.080 points to end at 83.660 and K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) shed 2.31% or 0.685 points to 28.975.
The top performers on the MDAX were Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which rose 4.80% to 35.390, Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which was up 2.98% to settle at 29.745 and Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which gained 1.93% to close at 14.780.
The worst performers were Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which was down 7.93% to 16.020 in late trade, Deutsche Annington Immobilien SE (XETRA:ANNGn) which lost 4.30% to settle at 29.18 and LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which was down 2.19% to 66.440 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which rose 2.96% to 166.700, Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which was up 2.46% to settle at 42.635 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which gained 1.54% to close at 18.760.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which was down 2.74% to 3.653 in late trade, PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which lost 2.30% to settle at 10.850 and Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was down 1.90% to 165.100 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 504 to 242 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.61% to 23.92.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.34% or 4.00 to $1192.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.46% or 0.88 to hit $61.08 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.96% or 0.62 to trade at $65.50 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.96% to 1.1142, while EUR/GBP rose 1.04% to 0.7264.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.53% at 96.03.
