Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Financial Services and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.60% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index declined 1.03%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Linde AG O.N. (XETRA:LING), which rose 1.89% or 3.200 points to trade at 172.700 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) added 1.06% or 0.160 points to end at 15.190 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) was up 0.65% or 0.340 points to 52.760 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which lost 1.99% or 0.235 points to trade at 11.590 in late trade. Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) declined 1.82% or 3.800 points to end at 205.150 and Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p) shed 1.68% or 1.750 points to 102.500.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which rose 3.97% to 15.855, Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which was up 2.04% to settle at 7.950 and Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which gained 1.40% to close at 12.690.
The worst performers were Deutsche Annington Immobilien SE (XETRA:ANNGn) which was down 6.76% to 24.67 in late trade, Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which lost 3.53% to settle at 80.700 and Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which was down 3.20% to 24.185 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which rose 1.66% to 110.300, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which was up 1.59% to settle at 160.000 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which gained 1.20% to close at 8.147.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 3.81% to 20.345 in late trade, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which lost 3.42% to settle at 45.500 and BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was down 2.43% to 263.050 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 453 to 279 and 43 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.46% to 25.38 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.44% or 5.20 to $1175.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.24% or 0.75 to hit $59.70 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.90% or 0.57 to trade at $63.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1243, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.7156.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 95.25.
