Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Telecoms and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 2.32%, while the MDAX index climbed 2.14%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn), which rose 4.04% or 0.605 points to trade at 15.590 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) added 3.43% or 6.900 points to end at 208.200 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) was up 3.31% or 0.380 points to 11.855 in late trade.
Biggest losers included K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which added 0.26% or 0.095 points to trade at 36.645 in late trade. Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) added 0.66% or 0.340 points to end at 51.700 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) gained 0.85% or 0.570 points to 67.560.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which rose 6.80% to 16.015, Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which was up 4.62% to settle at 44.278 and Gerresheimer AG (XETRA:GXId) which gained 3.93% to close at 54.500.
The worst performers were Kion Group AG (XETRA:KGX) which was down 1.47% to 39.51 in late trade, Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which lost 0.74% to settle at 22.120 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was down 0.52% to 30.335 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which rose 6.02% to 8.916, Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was up 4.57% to settle at 150.000 and QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which gained 4.28% to close at 1.756.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was down 7.12% to 5.466 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which lost 3.76% to settle at 7.387 and Jenoptik AG O.N. (XETRA:JENG) which was down 1.39% to 10.985 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 578 to 168 and 33 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 26.64.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.23% or 2.70 to $1160.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.52% or 1.30 to hit $52.95 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 3.32% or 1.90 to trade at $58.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.53% to 1.1018, while EUR/GBP fell 0.62% to 0.7168.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.39% at 96.76.
