Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Chemicals and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 1.93%, while the MDAX index added 1.38%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p), which rose 5.32% or 12.400 points to trade at 245.450 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) added 4.48% or 0.550 points to end at 12.830 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) was up 2.82% or 2.100 points to 76.510 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn), which lost 4.59% or 1.450 points to trade at 30.125 in late trade. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) added 0.27% or 0.500 points to end at 182.350 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) gained 0.54% or 0.400 points to 75.140.
The top performers on the MDAX were Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which rose 3.58% to 99.570, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was up 3.13% to settle at 12.995 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (XETRA:TLXGn) which gained 2.79% to close at 30.160.
The worst performers were Fielmann AG O.N. (XETRA:FIEG) which was down 1.12% to 61.820 in late trade, Celesio AG Nam. O.N. (XETRA:CLSGn) which lost 0.56% to settle at 26.630 and Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which was down 0.18% to 6.788 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which rose 8.52% to 43.450, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which was up 3.36% to settle at 150.900 and Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which gained 3.34% to close at 5.070.
The worst performers were BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was down 0.52% to 288.000 in late trade, PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which lost 0.46% to settle at 12.015 and Qiagen NV (XETRA:QGEN) which was down 0.35% to 22.840 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 526 to 203 and 39 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.83% to 20.66.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 2.34% or 27.50 to $1202.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.52% or 0.30 to hit $57.45 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.19% or 0.12 to trade at $65.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.31% to 1.0909, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.7156.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 96.74.
