Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Basic Resources and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.74%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.16%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were BASF SE NA O.N. (XETRA:BASFN), which rose 3.20% or 2.850 points to trade at 92.030 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) added 2.61% or 0.320 points to end at 12.580 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) was up 2.60% or 0.425 points to 16.750 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p), which lost 1.79% or 4.200 points to trade at 230.800 in late trade. Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) added 0.30% or 0.145 points to end at 49.015 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) gained 0.41% or 0.050 points to 12.250.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which rose 5.03% to 31.410, Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which was up 4.91% to settle at 113.150 and Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which gained 3.62% to close at 12.175.
The worst performers were Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which was down 1.54% to 19.515 in late trade, LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which lost 0.36% to settle at 74.490 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (XETRA:BOSSn) which was down 0.34% to 116.000 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (XETRA:MORG) which rose 6.19% to 64.500, Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was up 4.74% to settle at 4.885 and Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which gained 4.51% to close at 19.450.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which was down 0.46% to 38.070 in late trade, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which lost 0.32% to settle at 83.500 and Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was down 0.27% to 149.300 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 569 to 174 and 30 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.72% to 20.60.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.71% or 8.60 to $1194.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.26% or 0.72 to hit $58.04 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.38 to trade at $63.83 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.40% to 1.0764, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.7217.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.35% at 97.96.
