Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Software, Industrials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 1.53% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index gained 1.54%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG), which rose 2.92% or 6.100 points to trade at 214.850 at the close. Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG) added 2.34% or 2.190 points to end at 95.740 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) was up 2.26% or 1.580 points to 71.600 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG), which added 0.38% or 0.210 points to trade at 55.560 in late trade. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG) added 0.57% or 0.410 points to end at 72.770 and Linde AG O.N. (XETRA:LING) gained 0.67% or 1.200 points to 180.150.
The top performers on the MDAX were Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which rose 6.29% to 89.070, Leoni AG NA O.N. (XETRA:LEOGn) which was up 4.92% to settle at 60.540 and Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which gained 4.35% to close at 14.400.
The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 0.34% to 16.140 in late trade, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (XETRA:SY1G) which lost 0.15% to settle at 58.940 and Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which was up 0.04% to 53.250 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which rose 8.99% to 8.818, Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was up 5.60% to settle at 9.940 and Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which gained 3.96% to close at 3.462.
The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which was down 8.76% to 90.310 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which lost 5.78% to settle at 31.800 and Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which was down 0.93% to 52.060 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 627 to 134 and 30 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.89% to 18.36 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.35% or 4.00 to $1143.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.43% or 0.22 to hit $51.19 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.22% or 0.12 to trade at $57.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.57% to 1.0888, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.6978.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.42% at 97.70.
