Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Chemicals and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.39%, while the MDAX index added 0.91%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 3.62% or 0.455 points to trade at 13.025 at the close. BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) added 3.60% or 2.500 points to end at 71.940 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) was up 2.86% or 5.050 points to 181.400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 1.25% or 0.200 points to trade at 15.745 in late trade. Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) declined 1.10% or 1.450 points to end at 129.800 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) shed 0.87% or 0.083 points to 9.440.
The top performers on the MDAX were K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which rose 6.46% to 20.010, Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was up 5.40% to settle at 57.000 and Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which gained 3.35% to close at 8.52.
The worst performers were Fielmann AG (DE:FIEG) which was down 2.56% to 68.590 in late trade, Rhoen Klinikum AG (DE:RHKG) which lost 1.11% to settle at 25.890 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was down 0.85% to 40.950 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which rose 6.94% to 33.355, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 3.24% to settle at 14.805 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which gained 2.29% to close at 24.80.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 4.22% to 35.765 in late trade, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which lost 1.01% to settle at 17.560 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 0.92% to 9.115 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 580 to 284 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.03% to 19.44 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.02% or 13.65 to $1329.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.81% or 0.81 to hit $45.56 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.01% or 0.93 to trade at $47.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.23% to 1.1115, while EUR/GBP fell 1.31% to 0.8333.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 96.11.
