Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Transportation & Logistics and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.31% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index climbed 1.32%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 3.99% or 4.200 points to trade at 109.350 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 2.43% or 0.440 points to end at 18.560 and Merck KGAA O.N. (DE:MRCG) was up 2.21% or 1.860 points to 85.950 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which lost 1.32% or 0.155 points to trade at 11.610 in late trade. K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) declined 0.55% or 0.135 points to end at 24.205 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) gained 0.42% or 0.115 points to 27.475.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which rose 6.86% to 37.475, Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (DE:GWIG) which was up 3.11% to settle at 15.400 and Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which gained 3.00% to close at 76.510.
The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (DE:SZUG) which was down 2.43% to 17.100 in late trade, Tui AG NA (DE:TUIGn) which lost 0.81% to settle at 16.570 and Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which was down 0.51% to 107.100 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 7.04% to 34.070, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 6.41% to settle at 9.849 and QSC AG NA O.N. (DE:QSCG) which gained 3.94% to close at 1.634.
The worst performers were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was down 3.50% to 27.445 in late trade, Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which lost 2.05% to settle at 176.800 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 1.56% to 36.870 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 457 to 220 and 37 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.45% to 19.78.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.06% or 12.40 to $1178.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 6.09% or 2.63 to hit $45.83 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 4.82% or 2.25 to trade at $49.06 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.25% to 1.1073, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.7221.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.37% at 96.66.
