Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction, Technology and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.26%, while the MDAX index gained 1.26%, and the TecDAX index added 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which rose 3.63% or 1.085 points to trade at 30.945 at the close. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (XETRA:BEIG) added 2.60% or 2.130 points to end at 83.900 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG) was up 2.30% or 1.710 points to 76.150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN), which added 0.11% or 0.080 points to trade at 73.760 in late trade. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) added 0.14% or 0.250 points to end at 173.500 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) gained 0.28% or 0.220 points to 77.600.
The top performers on the MDAX were Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which rose 3.20% to 94.260, Hochtief AG (XETRA:HOTG) which was up 3.04% to settle at 71.530 and Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) which gained 2.75% to close at 50.000.
The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 2.81% to 14.180 in late trade, Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which lost 0.74% to settle at 39.810 and Kabel Deutschland Holding AG O.N. (XETRA:KD8Gn) which was down 0.45% to 122.150 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which rose 4.60% to 6.339, Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was up 4.16% to settle at 172.800 and Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which gained 3.88% to close at 50.840.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 3.85% to 17.210 in late trade, Wirecard AG (XETRA:WDIG) which lost 3.72% to settle at 36.930 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (XETRA:AFXG) which was down 1.16% to 21.745 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 478 to 262 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.68% to 20.32.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.09% or 1.10 to $1186.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.14% or 0.08 to hit $57.95 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.44% or 0.92 to trade at $62.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.0885, while EUR/GBP rose 0.47% to 0.7101.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 97.50.
